My trip to South Africa (feb last year) was meant to be the start of a year + of travelling for me (I timed that awfully!). And as knock on effects of COVID go, missing out on travelling isn’t a terrible one.
But it still seems crazy to me that it’s been two years since I graduated. All the plans I had for that time just haven’t really happened.
But I think it’s important to focus on what has been gained rather than missed. I’m feeling so excited to be starting my PhD in sept, the nearer it gets the more real it is becoming. And I know that if I had managed to go travelling last year I wouldn’t have had the time to focus on what I want from my future and I wouldn’t be doing this PhD.
I recently felt compelled to finally share my trip photos online, they had been in my drafts for ages, because it felt strange to be posting pictures of a holiday when everyone was trapped inside. But I wanted to share them because they’re all such beautiful creatures and I feel so lucky to have had a chance to see them. My favourite was a pic of the zebra butts.
