How I got my second name shyama

I was born in andaman and my father kept my official name, a very common name such as Priyanka. As i grew up, i got to know that i was given another name which is not official called shyama which means black coloured or evening or goddess Kali ma.
Ironic thing is as a child i was always scared of getting dark complexion, i used to avoid Black tea etc(i am brown girl but was fair when i was a child). Now when i know how this name came for me..i feel good as if maa kali herself has blessed me.
Soon after i was born my mother came to her maternal home and was taking me to my great grandmother home. In Bengali people, newborns are taken to baba who will do some mantra and then out first kala tika on child with kajal. My mother due to some circumstances wasn’t able to buy kajal, all shops were closed. When she reached to the grandmother house, she said it’s not good to keep the child without kala tika. She went to the shop and was waiting for it to open. The shop was located in front of famous Kali Mandir which is said to be jagrit. The pandit of that mandir saw her and asked wat she was doing there. She told the matter. The pandit said take the kajal offered to maa kali and put on the baby. My grandmother hesitated and asked can we really put maa kali’s kajal for the baby?. The pandit wat can be more powerful to protect the child than maa kali’s kajal itself. Actual words were ” maa kali se bada ojha kaun”. Hence, my first kala tika was applied by maa kali’s kajal so my great grandmother named me shyama on that day.
This may sound coincidence to some people or a simple story but i know everything happens for a reason..and maybe this was the way maa kali blessed me.jai maa kali
