My first boyfriend was 19 when I was 14. He told me that “I wasn’t like girls his age”, that I was “different”, that he liked younger girls because they were “innocent” and not “corrupted” yet, and that I was “mature for my age”. He strung me a long for a while and I was always his rebound when he broke up with a different girl. When we broke up for good, he told me to “wait for him” until I turned 18. Of course he dated and slept with whoever he wanted. And he would randomly check in with me to ask if I was still a virgin and if I still wasn’t smoking/drinking/doing drugs. As a 28 year old woman looking back, that was such disgusting and predatory behavior and I wish I would’ve noticed it then.
