Racism in North Devon – Pam’s Story

I was born in London, grew up in Luton which was and still is a multicultural town. At the age of 15 I was chased by a group of NF glue sniffing supporters. I was the only black kid in my class and thankfully I had some really good friends, whom I’m still friends with now.

I moved to Devon to be nearer my parents, the racism I was subjected to was unbelievable, people would move away from us on the bus, look down their noses at us.

I’ve had death theats, how people are going to hurt my kids and make it look like an accident. A grown man told me “if I can’t control my monkeys he will do it for me”.

My son get beaten up by a cop at the age of 15, I’ve been told to shut up and stop talking black, spat at, told to go back home I don’t belong here the list goes on.

We are Persecuted daily for something we have no control over, enough is enough. Black lives matter!
