Upon hearing of imminent lockdown a month ago I quit my job in admin and applied to be a prescription delivery driver. I started my new job within days. Whilst being classed as a key worker and being thanked for putting my life on the line, I have to say it’s difficult for me to process the scale of what’s going on as my routine (apart from a change in job) has remained mostly the same. There have been multiple delivery drivers that have lost there lives to COVID-19 but with whilst maintaining social distancing and sanitising my hands approximately 80 times in a working shift I feel adequately protected. I see people all day and have maintained similar working hours to before. Also spending my days out of the house the sense of lockdown hasn’t been the same for me as most others. What I have found promising though is that the roads are empty and most of the people I deliver to seem to be taking social distancing measures seriously.
